What Will Your Legacy Be?
Since 1986, Contemplative Outreach of Colorado has been devoted to teaching and supporting thousands of people from all walks of life and denominations in their search for God through the Christian contemplative tradition. It is truly a sign of the Spirit at work when we meet the many people who tell us how Centering Prayer and the spiritual journey classes have changed their lives at the deepest levels. However, we cannot do this work alone. The Center for Contemplative Living relies mostly on revenue from classes and events to fund the programs we offer. Continuing our mission of fostering transformation in Christ through Centering Prayer also depends on the generosity of friends like you. By becoming a Legacy Donor, you can leave a lasting tribute in your memory that helps ensure our work continues to support those on the journey for generations to come. Once you have provided for your loved ones in your will, making a bequest is simple. Please contact us if you have questions and let us know if you decide to include Contemplative Outreach of Colorado in your will so that we can acknowledge and honor your commitment.
Making a Bequest In Your Will
An easy way of making a gift is by including a statement of your intention to donate to Contemplative Outreach of Colorado in your will. Your attorney can help you draft or update your will and explain potential tax advantages to your beneficiaries. You can either specify that the gift be a percentage of your estate or a set amount. Your gift can be of any amount. No gift is too small to make a difference in the lives of others.
Retirement Plans
Designating Contemplative Outreach of Colorado as a beneficiary of an IRA, pension or other retirement plan is another option. You can choose to donate a part or all of the assets. An advantage of these kinds of gifts is that they may be tax-free, and your estate may receive a charitable gift deduction.
Annuities, Life Insurance Beneficiaries
You can also name Contemplative Outreach of Colorado as a beneficiary of an annuity or life insurance policy. These may also offer tax advantages to your estate. Your plan administrator or insurance company can assist with completing the beneficiary paperwork. We normally do not accept actual life insurance policies.
What Legacy Donors Say
Other Kinds of Gifts
Depending on your situation, you also may want to consider making a gift through a revocable trust or donor-advised fund. It’s important that you consult your financial planner and estate attorney in deciding if this is a good option for you.
If you have questions about what other kinds of gifts you can make to Contemplative Outreach, please contact us at staff@centeringprayer.net and our staff will work with you to provide any information or help you need.
Legacy Giving Can Benefit You Today
Participating in our Legacy Giving Program allows you to control your assets until your passing. This protects you against unexpected life events that may impact your finances. Bequests also help reduce estate taxes, which can drain your assets significantly.
We are a tax-exempt, 501 (c)3 nonprofit.
