There’s a thread you follow. It goes among things that change. But it doesn’t change.
People wonder about what you are pursuing. You have to explain about the thread.
But it is hard for others to see. While you hold it you can’t get lost.
Tragedies happen; people get hurt or die; and you suffer and get old.
Nothing you do can stop time’s unfolding. You don’t ever let go of the thread.
- William Stafford

That’s just the way it is
Some things will never change.
That’s just the way it is
But don’t you believe them.
- Bruce Hornsby
Are there changes in the world or in your life that you find troubling?
Why do we embrace some changes and dread many others?
Our lives are stories - stories of change. Some changes are exposed, others hidden. Some changes happen slowly over a lifetime, others occur rapidly in an eye’s blink.
In just a few decades, we have witnessed the re-discovery of ancient spiritual teachings alongside the meteoric rise of the sciences. Can the two threads of science and spirituality offer practical insights into our complicated relationship with change?
Our presenter Rick Klein will combine valuable information from evolution and chaos theories with teachings from Ken Wilber, Richard Rohr and Thomas Keating about the process of spiritual growth. Together we’ll journey into the landscape of change. Along the way, we’ll share the stories of inspirational people from the past who offer compelling examples of the transformative power of change.
