We are called by Fr. Thomas Keating to “share Centering Prayer and its contemplative vision as widely as possible.” Our Outreach Team extends open invitations through media, print, the Internet and other means. When a spiritual seeker looks to us for opportunities to grow, they find information that is easy to access and explore.
We would be delighted to schedule the following classes for your community, either in-person or by Zoom. We offer these programs throughout Colorado at no cost. Donations are welcomed.
- Overview of Centering Prayer
This overview of Centering Prayer is helpful for communities wishing to know more about the practice prior to attending or offering the Introduction to Centering Prayer.
- Introduction to Centering Prayer
In this workshop, you will learn the history and method of Centering Prayer, experience it in two guided 20-minute sessions, ask questions and share experiences with our presenters and fellow participants. You will also learn about classes comprising the Spiritual Journey Series. See the Spiritual Journey Series page for more information.
“The Welcoming Prayer practice is a way of ʻletting goʻ into the present moment in the ordinary routines of daily life. It is used when your needs for security, affection and control are frustrated or gratified and cause emotional reactions. It is a way of turning everything over to God …” Thomas Keating, Open Mind, Open Heart. Workshop participants learn how to adopt this simple, effective prayer practice.
In the ancient practice of Lectio Divina, we listen to Biblical text or other spiritual readings with the “ear of the heart,” as if in conversation with God. Lectio Divina includes reading (lectio), reflecting on (meditatio), responding to (oratio), and resting in (contemplatio) the Word of God with the aim of nourishing and deepening one’s relationship with the Divine.
